HK Rope Bottoms Physical Preparation and Maintenance Guide
This resource is a guide we wrote, in collaboration with Chicago based physical therapy James Lee. We introduced him to kinbaku and demonstrated some kinbaku suspension in his office so he could understand the nature of the activity. In the following months, he worked on about 10 of our studio rope bottoms who were having various kinds of shoulder pain or mobility issues that limited their enjoyment of kinbaku.
The resulting guide is based on the insight gained from observing common issues these people have that can present physical barriers to Japanese rope bondage. It is intended to be applicable to rope bottoms who are having pain or mobility issues they'd like to work on, or people who are planning on bottoming for rope for a long time and want to take care of their bodies as best they can to reduce the chance that they might get injured in the future.
